New Regency taps Milchan for production post

Alexandra Milchan has re-joined New Regency as executive VP of production. Her return to the Fox-based shingle marks a homecoming, considering Milchan is the daughter of Regency founder Arnon Milchan, and she began her film career under the New Regency banner in 1993 as an assistant before working her way up the ranks at the company. During her 13-year tenure there, she was involved with Jon Amiel's "Copycat," Michael Mann's "Heat," Joel Schumacher's "A Time to Kill" and Curtis Hanson's "L.A. Confidential." She also contributed to Regency's TV division by overseeing CBS' "Michael Hayes," the David Caruso-starrer produced by Paul Haggis and John Romano. She reports to newly appointed CEO Brad Weston in her new post. Appointment comes just weeks after news broke that Regency co-chairmen Bob Harper and Hutch Parker were ankling the company. Milchan has worked as an independent producer over the past few years, serving on projects including David Ayer's ''Street Kings'' and Alexandre Aja's ''Mirrors.'' Earlier this month, New Regency started its retro moves in an exec shakeup that included the departure of its co-chairs and the return to a more hands-on role for founder and majority owner Arnon Milchan. The staff changes at New Regency are taking place as the company is seeking a $500 million revolving credit line syndicated by JP Morgan and Bank of America to fund new pics. Recent New Regency credits include "Monte Carlo," which opened July 1. Fox will release "What's Your Number?" in September, followed by "In Time" in October and "Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked" in December. Production shingle was recently in talks to co-finance "Luna," with Doug Liman attached to direct, with Paramount. Summit will also unspool New Regency's "The Darkest Hour" in December.
